Straddling the Marche and Umbria, this park offers a vast network of trails suitable for both beginners and expert hikers. Among the best-known excursions is the route to Lago di Pilato, a glacial lake at about 1,941 metres above sea level.
This area is famous for its centuries-old woods and breathtaking views. Monte San Vicino, at 1,480 metres, offers trails immersed in nature, while the Canfaito beech forest is perfect for relaxing walks.
This regional natural park is famous for the Frasassi Caves, but it also offers many hiking trails through karst landscapes and lush woods. An ideal destination for combining hikes with cave visits.
On the border between the Marche and Umbria, Monte Cucco is a sought-after destination for trekking and caving enthusiasts. The Monte Cucco Cave, extending 35 km, is one of the largest in Italy and can be visited with specialised guides.
At 1,525 metres, Monte Nerone offers a variety of trails through woods, meadows and rocky outcrops. It's an ideal destination for hiking, mountain biking and, in winter, cross-country skiing.

This mountain massif offers many hiking trails, including the route to the Cave of San Pier Damiani, about an hour's walk from the monastery of Santa Croce di Fonte Avellana.
Set between the municipalities of Acqualagna, Piobbico and Urbania, Monte Montiego (975 m) offers trails ideal for walking, horse riding and mountain biking. Its slopes are covered with hornbeam, manna ash and holm oak woods, while the summit features wide meadows often used for grazing.
This mountain pass at 1,541 metres, between Umbria and the Marche, is a starting point for many excursions in the Sibillini Mountains. In winter the area is popular for its ski facilities, while in summer it is ideal for trekking, mountaineering and paragliding.
